Reaction from Volkan Konak to 'İmamoğlu'! He recalled 2017 and criticized the opposition: 'You are responsible!'

Reactions continue to grow like an avalanche following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on Thursday, March 19. In a statement made via social media, artist Volkan Konak criticized the detention of İmamoğlu.

Drawing attention to the 2017 constitutional referendum, where unstamped ballots were counted as valid, and to the opposition that remained silent on the matter, Konak stated that these individuals are responsible for today's lawlessness.

Konak said, "Those who accepted two and a half million unstamped ballots as valid and those who swallowed this are the architects of what we are experiencing today. You all wrote the decree for these days of judgment we find ourselves in today."

Konak also harshly criticized the lawlessness and injustice, stating, "Even if I were left all alone in the world, even if I were to die with the ease of a butterfly, even if I were not hanged but thrown into a dungeon, I have never believed in your law, your justice, your honesty, or your love. And as long as I live, I will never believe."

Konak used the following expressions in his post:

"In the 2017 constitutional referendum, those who accepted two and a half million unstamped—and therefore invalid—ballots as valid, and most importantly, those who were in the opposition and remained silent in the face of this lawlessness; what we are experiencing today is your work.

You all wrote the decree for these days of judgment we find ourselves in today.

Even if I were left all alone in the world, even if I were to die with the ease of a butterfly, even if I were not hanged but thrown into a dungeon, I have never believed in your law, your justice, your honesty, or your love. And as long as I live, I will never believe.

Therefore, those of you who talk about the law today like a cuckoo bird, who are you trying to fool?"
