A large crowd gathered in front of the prison during Genç's release.
Present at the reception were members of the Free Women's Movement, DEM Party Istanbul Provincial Co-Chair Arife Çınar, MATUHAY-DER Co-Chair Nurten Karagöz, and family members.
At the moment of her release, the crowd chanted the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadi," which means "woman, life, freedom" in Kurdish.
WHO IS NİBEL GENÇ?
Born in Muş in 1972. She graduated from the Radio, Television and Cinema department at Istanbul University. She was forced to leave her studies at the Istanbul University Faculty of Law in her third year due to political reasons. She entered prison in 1995 for membership in the terrorist organization PKK.
