Due to the geological characteristics of the geography Turkey is located on and the effects of climate change, the country is vulnerable to many hazards, primarily earthquakes, as well as landslides, floods, droughts, and forest fires; therefore, the 2025 Presidential Annual Program also includes implementations regarding disaster-resilient living spaces.
According to the program, the preparation process for the Marmara Region Disaster Risk Reduction Plan will be initiated. Event precaution tables will be created by conducting risk assessments, identifying where and to what extent the region's current hazards and risks exist spatially, and analyzing disaster history, areas exposed to specific hazards, and vulnerability status established through certain assumptions.
Definitive identification of temporary shelter areas planned for use in disaster situations will be carried out.
For the prioritization of urban transformation areas, an evaluation system will be developed that takes into account disaster hazards, social and economic difficulties, and the quality of the building stock.
