As of today, tourist visa fees for the Schengen area have increased, amid significant difficulties in both securing visa appointments and high rates of visa rejections in recent months.
12 PERCENT HIKE
The European Commission recently decided to increase the price of the Schengen visa, which allows visa-free entry to 29 European countries, by 12 percent.
These new increased prices, which will be applied worldwide, will be effective as of today. The Schengen visa, which was 80 euros last week, has increased to 90 euros for adults starting today. For children between the ages of 6 and 12, it has increased from 40 euros to 45 euros.
WHERE TO GET A SCHENGEN VISA?
It is mandatory to submit an official application to obtain a Schengen visa. The Schengen countries, a special zone within the EU, grant tourists from abroad the right to travel freely for up to 90 days. Citizens of all other countries that do not have a visa-free agreement with Schengen member states must apply for a visa for their travels to Europe.
Turkey is not included in the visa-free agreement with the Schengen Area countries. Therefore, citizens of the Republic of Turkey must obtain a Schengen visa before traveling.
While Schengen visa applications were previously made through consulates, they can now be carried out via digital platforms. Visa applications for Schengen member countries can be made electronically.
