She had joined the AKP from the Future Party: Serap Yazıcı Özbudun explains how she was persuaded

New memberships drew attention at the AKP's 8th Ordinary Congress. In addition to Ünal Karaman and Mehmet Selim Ensarioğlu, who resigned from the IYI Party, Serap Yazıcı Özbudun, who left the Future Party, also joined the ranks of the AKP.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the new members with their party pins.

ELECTED FROM THE CHP LIST, RESIGNED FROM THE FUTURE PARTY

Serap Yazıcı, one of the founders of the Future Party established under the leadership of Ahmet Davutoğlu and who was elected as a member of parliament from the CHP list, announced that she had resigned from her party the other day. Explaining her resignation decision in a single sentence, Yazıcı said, "I am resigning from the Future Party due to necessity."

SHARP REACTION FROM THE PARTY

Yazıcı's joining the AKP sparked reactions from the Future Party front. The party management gave a harsh response to the invitation from the AK Party, stating, "They want to use some of our deputies as show material for the AK Party Congress with 'Güneş Motel' style tactics."

''I WAS VERY IMPRESSED BY MY MEETING WITH OUR PRESIDENT''

Yazıcı responded to the criticisms regarding her decision in a statement to Serbestiyet. Describing the process of joining the AK Party, Yazıcı said:

"I am aware of the criticisms. However, politics is possible with strong leadership and a strong party. Unfortunately, we were not successful in the theses we defended as the Future Party. The group we formed with the Felicity Party was hanging by a thread, and I expressed my criticisms regarding this as well. I do not find it right to speak negatively about the party I left, but I could not bring about any change with the ideas I fought for in the opposition."

Explaining how she evaluated the invitation from the AKP, Yazıcı stated that her meeting with Erdoğan impressed her and noted the following:

"I asked those who invited me, 'Are you inviting me despite my ideas? I have criticized you a lot.' I received the answer, 'Yes, our President wants to see you in our party.' I met with our President and was very impressed by this meeting. He gave me confidence. I had no demands, including for a parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections. My only wish was to be able to continue serving the people of Antalya."

Stating that she would not respond to the harsh criticisms made about her on social media, Yazıcı said, "Ugly expressions are being used against me. However, social media is such a platform anyway, so I will not respond to them."
