Specialist sergeant commits suicide after killing his brother-in-law: Marriage contract detail
In Kırıkkale, a specialist sergeant shot and killed his brother-in-law, whom he blamed for his divorce from his wife of nearly 3 years, before taking his own life with the same weapon. It is alleged that the hostility between the two brothers-in-law stemmed from a promissory note signed before the wedding, which functioned as a prenuptial agreement.

The incident occurred in the evening hours in front of a construction site on Alparslan Türkeş Boulevard in the Kaletepe neighborhood.
According to the information obtained, Mesut Yurt (39), a specialist sergeant serving in Tekirdağ, shot his brother-in-law Hakan Altunkaş (47) in the head with a handgun, leaving him critically injured, after taking 15 days of annual leave.
Yurt then took his own life with the same weapon.
Upon notification, health and numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene.
Critically injured Altunkaş was taken to the hospital by ambulance following initial intervention at the scene, but could not be saved despite all efforts by doctors.
Mesut Yurt's body was sent to the forensic medicine institution following investigations at the scene.
It was learned that Mesut Yurt had been living apart from his wife for nearly three years and that a divorce case was scheduled for the day of the incident.
It was alleged that Altunkaş had made Yurt sign a promissory note as a prenuptial agreement before the wedding, and that there had been long-standing hostility between the parties due to this.
A comprehensive investigation has been launched by the Public Prosecutor's Office and teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch.
