The second season of "Squid Game", one of Netflix's most-watched series that sparked global debate after its release, is returning after a long hiatus.
In the first trailer released by Netflix, it is seen that the character Seong Gi-hun, played by actor Lee Jung-jae, who survived the deadly children's games in the first season, returns three years later as player number 456 and joins hundreds of new contestants.
The second season will arrive on the platform on December 26.
In the first season of the South Korean series, which was released in 2021, a group of 456 people in despair and debt were fighting to the death for a large cash prize.
This season, Gi-hun will try to show the new players a safe way out.
The series became Netflix's most-watched show after its release, having been viewed by 111 million people in its first 28 days.
In the first season, Gi-hun managed to survive by barely completing the game.
In the trailer, it is seen that the games start again with "Red Light, Green Light".
As in the first season, the players have the right to vote on whether to stop or continue the game.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “Gi-hun trying to understand who is organizing the competition and why they are doing such a thing forms the main story of the second season.”
The director also stated, “In the first season, we focused on Gi-hun's positive and energetic character; this time, we will reflect his determination.”
In an interview with the Reuters news agency, he stated that there would be more interesting games and a larger cast in the second season.
Hwang Dong-hyuk had previously expressed that he felt “great pressure” to make the second season “even better” after the extraordinary success of the series.
The success of Squid Game enabled Netflix to increase its international series options and invest in South Korean dramas.
The series was widely discussed for its violent scenes on one hand, while on the other, it sparked debates about capitalism and South Korean culture.
The third and final season of Squid Game will be released in 2025.
