Stabbed 17 times, she survived by playing dead
In Mersin, Havva Ç., a mother of 3, was stabbed 17 times by her husband M.Ç., who was under a restraining order, and survived by playing dead. The woman, who was stabbed in front of her child, demanded that her husband, who has been arrested, receive the harshest possible sentence.

The incident occurred on March 25, 2026, in the Bağlar neighborhood of the Tarsus district. It is alleged that M.Ç. (33) called his wife, Havva Ç. (27), and their child to a park under the pretext of seeing his daughter. After spending some time together in the park, M.Ç. attacked his wife with a knife on a secluded street on their way back. The young woman, who received 17 stab wounds, collapsed to the ground, severely injured. After her treatment at the hospital, Havva Çelen returned to her parents' home and recounted that she had been subjected to violence throughout her 9-year marriage.
"I killed Havva, go get her body"
Saying "I don't want to die," Havva Ç. stated, "On March 25, he called us to the park with the intention of seeing his daughter. Everything was normal in the park. However, on the way back, he attacked me with a knife on a secluded street. I collapsed to the ground with 17 stab wounds. My lungs were damaged, and I lost the use of my right arm. He left me at the scene, thinking I was dead. He even called his family and said, 'I killed Havva, go get her body.' I experienced many incidents of violence throughout our 9-year marriage. I had been stabbed before. He broke my arm, he broke my nose. He tried to burn down my family's house. Neither I, nor my family, nor my children are safe. My mental health has deteriorated; I cannot sleep at night," she said.

Pointing out that her husband, who had previously burned down her father's house, had served only 40 days in prison before being released, Havva Ç. said, "He went to prison many times, but he never changed. He deceived me during our last meeting. He kept saying, 'I am fine.' He even tried to gain my trust by saying, 'If I wanted to, I could get out in 2 minutes, kill you, and go back to prison, but I don't have such a plan.' However, all of this was a plan. He did all of this in front of my 4-year-old child's eyes. My daughter's screams of 'mom' are still in my ears. I am very scared; I cannot sleep at night. If he gets out, he could harm me, my children, and my family again. He has stabbed me many times before, broken my arm and nose, and split my head open. I endured all of this for my children, but I no longer have the strength to endure it. Furthermore, he is addicted to alcohol and drugs. He would attack me more when he used them. He made me live a nightmare for 9 years. I want him to receive the harshest sentence," she said.
