CARDBOARD HUMANS END SUNFISH'S LONELINESS
Officials at an aquarium in the city of Shimonoseki, in Japan's Yamaguchi Prefecture, announced that a sunfish had been experiencing health problems for some time following the aquarium's temporary closure for renovations in December 2024.
The officials determined that the sunfish, which they initially thought was suffering from a type of parasite or digestive issue, might be experiencing health problems as a result of being left alone due to the lack of visitors.
Following this, the officials placed cardboard cutouts with human images and clothes on hangers outside the aquarium to create the appearance of visitors.
The officials noted that the sunfish's health showed improvement after a while.
