Tahir Elçi commemorated at the site where he was murdered 9 years ago

Former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Tahir Elçi, who was murdered while giving a press statement, was commemorated on the 9th anniversary of his death at the spot where he was killed.

According to the report by Ahmet Ün from ANKA; former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Tahir Elçi, who was shot and killed during an armed clash between security forces and PKK terrorists while giving a press statement in the Sur district of Diyarbakır on November 28, 2015, was commemorated in front of the Four-Legged Minaret where he was killed.

Gathering in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse, Union of Turkish Bar Associations President Erinç Sağkan, CHP deputies Sezgin Tanrıkulu, CHP Ankara deputies Okan Konuralp and Aliye Timisi Ersever, Tahir Elçi's wife CHP İstanbul Deputy Türkan Elçi, CHP Sakarya Deputy Ayşe Taşkent, DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Ayşe Serra Bucak Küçük, Diyarbakır Bar Association President Abdulkadir Güleç, and hundreds of lawyers marched to the front of the Four-Legged Minaret where Elçi was killed. During the commemoration program in front of the Four-Legged Minaret, speeches were made after listening to Ahmet Kaya's "Diyarbakır Türküsü" and the final speech Tahir Elçi gave before he was murdered.
