The summer of 2024, marked by extreme heat, continues to set records in Turkey as well.
According to the "Heat Map of Turkey" study prepared by MediaMarkt, the company's air conditioner sales increased more than 3-fold this summer.
Closely monitoring consumer trends, MediaMarkt has published its study titled "Turkey's Heat Map," based on air conditioner sales across Turkey.
The study was prepared based on air conditioner sales that took place across all provinces of Turkey between June 1 and August 15 through MediaMarkt's physical stores and online sales channel.
While the impact of sweltering heat on air conditioner sales has become observable in recent years, MediaMarkt emphasized that a significant increase in total air conditioner sales has been observed across all sales channels over the past year.
According to the study, air conditioner sales in June of this year increased more than 3-fold compared to the same period last year. In July, air conditioner stocks reached the point of depletion at many sales points.
The study also revealed Turkey's "heat-stricken" cities based on air conditioner sales. Accordingly, the highest number of units sold was in Istanbul. Istanbul was followed by Adana, Izmir, Mersin, Antalya, Bursa, Antep, Balikesir, Aydin, and Diyarbakir, respectively.
