The fact that the two terrorists who carried out the attack on TUSAŞ in Ankara on October 23 were able to come all the way to Ankara and execute a bomb and armed attack, despite having arrest warrants against them for 9 years, has brought the issue of intelligence failure back to the agenda.

According to information obtained by SÖZCÜ from security sources, it was determined that one of the terrorists, Ali Örek, took part in the trench, barricade, and pit actions initiated by the terrorist organization PKK in the İdil district of Şırnak on February 16, 2016.

It was determined that the terrorist was involved in the so-called YPS structure, which carries out attacks in city centers, and participated in the attacks in İdil where 8 security personnel were martyred.

It was identified that the terrorist Ali Örek, who was recognized from photographs by terrorists who were captured or surrendered, used the Bener Cordan Primary School in the Turgut Özal neighborhood of İdil as a headquarters during the 2016 trench actions.

It was learned that terrorist Örek was wanted for participating in attacks alongside other terrorists in İdil that resulted in the martyrdom of First Lieutenant Mehmet Çiftçi, Petty Officer Mehmet Uygun, Specialist Sergeants Musa Yılmaz, Mustafa Can Kalfe, Burak Güneş, and Special Operations Police officers Hakan Yılmaz, Muzaffer Tufaner, and Veysi Kakı.

It was reported that after control was established in the district following the 44-day attacks, he fled through the Cehennem Valley, located between the İdil district of Şırnak and the Dargeçit district of Mardin, to Mount Gabar in Şırnak, and from there to northern Iraq.

IDENTITY IDENTIFIED THROUGH FINGERPRINT MATCHING

It was stated that an arrest warrant was issued for terrorist Ali Örek by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace upon the request of the Şırnak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crimes of "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state, killing a person due to their public duty, manufacturing and transporting unauthorized explosive materials, and violating the Law on Firearms No. 6136," and that he had been sought everywhere for 9 years.

CAME TO ANKARA WITH A FAKE ID

It was noted that because his fingerprints were found in the attacks he participated in in İdil, as well as in the houses, schools, and annexes where he hid, his identity was confirmed through fingerprint matching in the Counter-Terrorism Department's archive database following the heinous attack he carried out in Ankara, and that he had come to Ankara with a fake ID.
