The race for the seat... Hafize Gaye Erkan sidelined: New appointment from the Palace!

Hafize Gaye Erkan, who left her post as Governor of the Central Bank in a controversial manner, was searching for a new seat in the corridors of politics. However, according to claims, the position she desired at the Palace was not granted to her. Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, a graduate of Kartal Imam Hatip High School, was brought in to head the newly established Investment and Finance Office under the Presidency, a position Erkan had targeted.

Dağlıoğlu, who graduated from Boğaziçi University and attended the same high school as Bilal Erdoğan, had been serving as the President of the Presidential Investment Office since 2020. It is known that Dağlıoğlu, who has been directly promoted to the newly established Investment and Finance Office, also continues to serve as a board member of the Turkey Wealth Fund.

While the rapid rise of figures from Kartal Imam Hatip High School in the public bureaucracy has been particularly notable recently, it has emerged that Dağlıoğlu also serves as the Secretary General of the school's alumni association.

4 OFFICES CLOSED, THIS OFFICE ESTABLISHED IN THEIR PLACE

The Digital Transformation Office, Finance Office, Human Resources Office, and Investment Office, which were established in 2018 with the transition to the presidential system, were closed on March 8, 2025.

In place of these structures, a new institution was created under a single roof called the Investment and Finance Office. Immediately afterward, it was suggested that Hafize Gaye Erkan would be brought to the head of this new office. However, according to backstage reports, Erkan could not reach this seat.

HELD PRIVATE MEETINGS

According to sources close to the Palace, Hafize Gaye Erkan held a series of private meetings with high-level bureaucrats of the Palace for this position. However, the Presidential wing, which did not want a new 'dual structure' to emerge in economic management, turned down Erkan's request. It was claimed that Erkan wanted a more active role in the economy, but this request was "not deemed appropriate."

'BULUT'S ARE DENSE

On the other hand, the Economic Policies Board, created by a presidential decree, also drew attention with its new members. Among the 16 people on the board, public bank executives and representatives of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance stood out, while Yiğit Bulut was among the most notable names. Bulut, a former Chief Advisor to the Prime Ministry and advisor to the President, has stepped back onto the economic stage.

Another notable name on the board was Nilüfer Bulut, President of the Turkish Businesswomen's Association.
