Following the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria, the return of Syrians who took refuge in Turkey during the civil war continues.
Syrians creating congestion at the Öncüpınar Border Gate in Kilis are completing their procedures at the Repatriation Center under the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. Once their procedures are completed, the Syrians then return to their country.
16-year-old Hikmet Haskiro said he loved Turkey, where he arrived at the age of 3. Haskiro said, "The Turkish people were very kind, I thank them. I am very happy to be going to Syria. I have been separated from my relatives there for 13 years, I will see them. I am very happy because of this."
12-year-old Cennet Atra, who came to the border gate with her family to return to Syria, said she loved her friends and teachers at school very much.
Muhammet Farih (30) also stated that he came to Turkey 6 years ago and said, "Now the war is over, I am returning. I am going to Damascus. I thank the Turkish people."
