The Ministry is exposing brands that tamper with food for various reasons, such as making the food more affordable or using fewer ingredients, through its list of imitation and adulteration.
The Ministry has announced the brands that put citizens' health at risk in food products across the country, from dairies and butchers to kebab shops and packaged foods, through a list released to the public. It was observed that imitation and adulteration were particularly present in olive oil and red meat.
IT WAS DECLARED BUT NOT FOUND INSIDE
In the powdered food supplement produced by Bilge İlaç Bitkisel Ürünler Kozmetik Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi in Esenyurt, Istanbul, the declared product was not detected.
Seed oils were detected in 16 olive oil brands, while it was learned that seed oils other than sunflower oil were mixed into one sunflower oil brand.
OFFAL FOUND FROM KEBAB SHOPS TO MANTI MAKERS
In kebab shops, offal (heart) was detected in products sold as meat bread, meatballs, Adana kebab mix, mixed beef-lamb meatballs, and minced meat village pastry.
In the product named Kayseri manti from the business named Elle Mantı Börek-Ayşe Küçük in Kağıthane, Istanbul, poultry meat and offal (gizzard) were detected.
FOREIGN SUBSTANCES FOUND IN SPICES
Spices, which appear on every list, have taken their place here as well. Foreign substances were detected in the powdered pepper of the Nurkaya Gıda brand produced in Gaziantep and in the thyme belonging to Bens Pastacılık Ürünleri produced in Antalya.
Pistachio paste, famous for Dubai chocolate, also entered the list. Food coloring was detected in the pistachio paste produced by Şenci- Ezme Mesut Şenci in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep.
