Which are the dollar-rich provinces? Which city is dollar-rich? The answers to these questions have been revealed. The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), which publishes basic indicators on a provincial basis in 3-month periods, has released the list of provinces holding the most foreign currency. The details in the list of dollar-rich provinces drew attention.

THEY ARE NOT IN THE TOP 10!

When looking at the proportional density of foreign currency in total deposits, it is seen that Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir could not enter the top 10.

Among the three major cities, Istanbul ranks 35th with 35.8 percent, İzmir ranks 49th with 32.2 percent, and Ankara ranks 54th with 31.7 percent.

AKSARAY IS IN FIRST PLACE

The province in Turkey with the highest share of foreign currency deposits in total deposits is Aksaray.

According to Cnbc-e's report based on BDDK data, 49.3 percent of the amount held in deposits in the city was recorded as foreign currency.

The cities following Aksaray are as follows:

Bingöl – 48.2 percent

Elazığ – 47.2 percent

Karaman – 46.3 percent

Bayburt – 46 percent

Yozgat – 46 percent

Nevşehir – 45 percent

Kütahya – 44.4 percent

Gümüşhane – 44 percent

Çorum – 42.9 percent

THE PROVINCE AT THE END OF THE LIST: ARDAHAN

At the bottom of the list are Ardahan with 17.9 percent, Kars with 23.3 percent, and Şanlıurfa with 23.8 percent.

The share of foreign currency in the deposits of non-residents was measured at 66.2 percent.

According to BDDK data, Aksaray also took the first place on the list in the first quarter of 2023. In the 2023 data, Aksaray was followed by Nevşehir, Kırşehir, Yozgat, Kütahya, Yalova, Bayburt, Karaman, Elazığ, and Antalya, respectively.
