Two-year family feud ends with a peace ceremony
In the Ahlat district of Bitlis, a feud that began about 2 years ago following a fight between members of the Güneş family has come to an end with a peace ceremony.

The peace ceremony, which displayed an exemplary show of solidarity and unity in the district, took place with the participation of local officials, community leaders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, clergy, and numerous citizens. As a result of the initiatives of family elders and the intensive efforts of regional community leaders who intervened, the parties were brought together.
The peace ceremony, held at the Tevhid Mosque in the Kale neighborhood, was attended by Ahlat District Governor Batuhan Bingöl, Ahlat Mayor Yavuz Gülmez, Ovakışla Town Mayor Baran Turan, Ahlat District Gendarmerie Commander Major Ömer Kartaler, Ahlat District Police Chief Salih Elekcioğlu, 21st and 27th Term Member of Parliament İbrahim Halil Oral, community leader Sheikh Mehmet Altındal, as well as other community leaders and family members.
Speaking at the ceremony, District Governor Bingöl expressed his satisfaction with this meaningful meeting, stating, "Humanity comes into this world to be tested. Human beings can make mistakes, commit faults, and sometimes follow the dictates of their ego. But ultimately, God commands us not to turn our backs on one another and that Muslims are brothers.
I congratulate the family members for this beautiful behavior. The peace established here today will bring lasting safety. It will bring peace and reconciliation to their children and grandchildren. It will bring peace and prosperity to our district. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this peace individually," he said.
Ahlat District Mufti İlyas Oğraş also touched upon the importance of peace.
Kutbettin Güneş, one of the family elders, thanked the family members in his speech, saying, "We are happy that this feud has ended in peace. I thank all the family members who showed sacrifice," he said.
Following the speeches, the family members embraced and shook hands in front of the Quran to seal the peace. The ceremony concluded with a meal served after collective prayers were offered.
