Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy answered the question on everyone's mind regarding the hotel fire in Bolu that claimed 66 lives. Minister Ersoy spoke about the allegations concerning whether or not the hotel had a fire escape.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated, "The hotel's type and classification inspections were conducted in 2021 and 2024; during these inspections, business opening and operating licenses as well as fire safety certificates were requested, and the hotel possesses a fire safety certificate issued by the fire department." Ersoy said that there were two fire escapes at the hotel.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited the site of the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort to conduct inspections. Offering his condolences to the citizens who lost their lives and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said the following:
"The hotel's type and classification inspections were conducted in 2021 and 2024; during these inspections, business opening and operating licenses as well as fire safety certificates were requested, and the hotel possesses a fire safety certificate issued by the fire department. This authority and competence already lie with the fire department. Regular inspections and certifications must also be carried out by the fire department. To date, there has been no negative situation reported by the fire department, and the investigation process is currently ongoing. May we all have our condolences."
In response to journalists' questions about whether there was a fire escape at the facility, Minister Ersoy replied, "There are two fire escapes."
