We exported 2.7 billion dollars worth of vehicles in August: Which country bought what type of vehicle

The Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB) reported that automotive exports in August decreased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 2 billion 715 million dollars. The automotive industry, which once again ranked first in the country's monthly exports, accounted for a 12.3 percent share of total foreign sales.

In August, exports from the supply industry, one of the sector's sub-product groups, were recorded at 1 billion 214 million dollars, passenger car exports at 723 million dollars, exports of motor vehicles for the transport of goods at 411 million dollars, bus-minibus-midibus exports at 216 million dollars, and tractor unit exports at 109 million dollars.

In the supply industry, the highest volume of exports was made to Germany, while for passenger cars and motor vehicles for the transport of goods, the United Kingdom was the top destination, and for the bus-minibus-midibus product group, it was France.

Germany, which received 356 million dollars in exports in August, stood out as the country with the highest volume of foreign sales. The United Kingdom became the second-largest market with 324 million dollars, while exports to France, the third-largest market, reached 248 million dollars.

Exports to the European Union, which ranks first among country groups with a 65 percent share, were recorded at 1 billion 771 million dollars, a 0.5 percent decrease compared to August of last year.

While other European countries ranked second among country groups with a 15 percent share, exports to this group of countries increased by 33 percent compared to the same month last year.

In the statement, OİB Board Chairman Baran Çelik noted that production in the automotive industry is paused during August due to planned maintenance and repair work.

Despite this, Çelik emphasized that they exceeded the August averages in exports last month and recorded double-digit growth in product groups such as motor vehicles for the transport of goods and buses-minibuses-midibuses, stating, "There were export increases of 24 percent to the United Kingdom, 116 percent to Slovenia, and 108 percent to Romania, which are among our most important markets. Our Turkish automotive industry's exports for the January-August period reached 23 billion 531 million dollars, an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the same period last year."
