WhatsApp has announced that it is working on a new, multi-functional share bar feature that will make it much easier for users to share content on social media platforms.
Discovered in the 2.24.25.20 beta version of WhatsApp for Android, this feature will make sharing to other applications much more effortless.
So, how is WhatsApp's new feature used?
"HOW DOES WHATSAPP'S MULTI-SHARE BAR WORK?"
The new share bar, located at the bottom of the screen in the WhatsApp application, allows content to be easily uploaded directly to other social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and Snapchat.
Users will no longer have to deal with the hassle of downloading their content from one platform and re-uploading it to another.
Additionally, there is a special sharing option for WhatsApp Channels.
When a channel update is to be shared, a unique link is automatically generated, and this link can be easily transferred to other social media platforms.
"USERS WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS"
The share bar also includes a “More” option to access platforms other than specific applications.
In other words, it allows users to distribute their content to more applications according to their needs.
Meanwhile, it was stated that other innovations are on the way besides the multi-share bar.
HERE ARE THOSE INNOVATIONS:
"CHANNEL SHARING VIA QR CODE"
Channel sharing via QR code is currently being tested for both Android and iOS users.
"TRANSCRIPTION OF VOICE MESSAGES"
Highly anticipated features such as converting voice messages to text are still in the development stage.
"DISCONTINUATION OF SUPPORT FOR OLDER IOS DEVICES"
As of May 2025, WhatsApp will support iOS 15.1 and later versions, meaning older devices with older versions will no longer receive updates.
"ANDROID USERS WILL GET EARLIER ACCESS"
In the meantime, let us mention that Android users will have earlier access to these features. Furthermore, the release date for iOS users has not yet been announced.
