WHO IS CANAN DAĞDEVİREN?
Originally from Sivas, Canan Dağdeviren was born in Istanbul in 1985. She completed her primary and secondary education in Kocaeli. In 2007, she graduated from the Department of Physics Engineering at Hacettepe University. She completed her master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Sabancı University in 2009. That same year, she won a Fulbright scholarship and began her doctoral studies in Materials Science and Engineering at UIUC. During this process, she worked on flexible, foldable, and wearable electronic devices that can be attached to the skin. She received her doctorate in December 2014. Working in the field of medical technology, she developed a battery-free wearable heart chip (PZT MEH) and a device that diagnoses skin cancer. She was also included in Forbes' 30 Under 30 list of scientists.

Canan Dağdeviren is currently a Turkish academic, physicist, materials scientist, and associate professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she holds the LG Career Development Professorship in Media Arts and Sciences. Dağdeviren is the first Turkish scientist in Harvard history to be a Junior Fellow in the Harvard University Society of Fellows.
