Why was Discord shut down?

The incident that drew attention to Discord was the brutal murder of two young girls — one at the city walls and one at his home — by killer Semih Çelik.

The question of whether Discord would be shut down had been one of the most talked-about topics in recent days. Discord, a voice and chat platform actively used especially by gamers, has been blocked in Turkey as of today.

WHY WAS DISCORD SHUT DOWN?

Turkey was the scene of a brutality that will not be forgotten for many years on Friday. A killer named Semih Çelik murdered Ayşenur at his home and İkbal at the historic city walls. The monster who beheaded İkbal then threw her head in front of her mother, sending shockwaves of horror across Turkey.

This killer's connections to so-called "incel" misogynist groups and his Discord messages came to light. Following this incident, a series of exposés were published on Discord.

SOCIAL MEDIA WAS SHAKEN BY THIS

Those who saw the Discord leaks could not believe their eyes. Across numerous channels, a shocking array of crimes came to light: children being threatened, abused under the threat of telling their families, and sexual conversations being conducted with young children. Posts were also identified in which so-called "incel" groups — misogynistic communities — rallied in support of Semih Çelik.

In addition to these, it was determined that this deviant group also targeted Atatürk, national values, and religious values with insults.

The button has been pressed for these perverts who work to ruin the lives of many people.

While detention procedures are currently underway, Discord has also been shut down in Turkey, where these groups were active.
