MLSA has published a report titled '30 Years of Censorship: The Radio and Television Supreme Council at 30'. The report also revealed the total cost of the fines imposed by RTÜK in the last 1.5 years. The pressure experienced in the media has been laid bare.
Among RTÜK's duties are regulating radio and television broadcasts and penalizing programs and channels that do not comply with broadcasting principles. With a legal amendment made in Parliament in 2018, the authority to supervise, license, and penalize internet-based broadcasts was also transferred to RTÜK.
The MLSA report on RTÜK in its 30th year will be shared and evaluated this evening (Friday, December 20) at 18:30 in a special MLSA TV broadcast with RTÜK members Necdet İpekyüz and İlhan Taşçı.
RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin noted that YouTube will also be brought under RTÜK supervision.
