It has emerged that Hatice Mine K., who was killed in her sleep by her husband, a bazaar and neighborhood watchman, in Adana, was murdered while sleeping next to her 7-year-old daughter. Hatice Mine K.'s brother, Yılmaz Yılgızcan, said, "He had a lot of debts; he was a gambler and a civil servant. He killed my sister while she was sleeping next to her daughter; may God damn him."

The incident occurred around 01:00 at night in the Kışla neighborhood of the central Yüreğir district. According to allegations, 40-year-old Hatice Mine K., who worked as a civil servant at the Pozantı Municipality, decided to divorce her husband, H.E.K., a neighborhood watchman, some time ago due to severe incompatibility. Despite all efforts by her husband to dissuade her, Hatice Mine K. did not change her mind and was subjected to an armed attack by H.E.K. while she was sleeping with her 7-year-old daughter at night. H.E.K. covered his wife's face with a pillow and then shot her in the head with a handgun.
Upon the notification of neighborhood residents who heard the gunshots, medical teams were dispatched to the scene and determined that the young woman had lost her life. Hatice Mine K.'s body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy following the work of the crime scene investigation teams.
Caught 30 minutes later
Teams from the Murder Bureau of the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch launched an investigation to capture the suspect, H.E.K., who fled after the incident. Examining the City Security Management System (KGYS) and surrounding security cameras, the teams caught and detained him at his hiding place approximately 30 minutes later.
Funeral released
The body of Hatice Mine K., which had been taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue, was released to her relatives after the autopsy was completed.
"He was a gambler"
Speaking to journalists at the time, Hatice Mine K.'s brother, Yılmaz Yılgıncan, explained that his brother-in-law was a gambling addict, saying, "My sister had been in the process of divorcing for 2 years. That person was a watchman and had a lot of debt. There was severe incompatibility, and then a divorce case was filed. During that time, the case turned into a contested divorce. He was a gambler; he was a gambling civil servant. May God have mercy on my sister, and may God damn him. He committed this act next to my niece, next to his daughter. He is currently in custody, and his statement is being taken," he said.
Hatice Mine K.'s funeral will be buried in Buruk Cemetery following the noon prayer. It was learned that the proceedings for H.E.K. at the police station are ongoing.
