Meteorology issues warning... Watch out for this evening! Heavy downpours are coming

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) and the General Directorate of Meteorology have issued warnings regarding heavy rainfall and dropping temperatures for Istanbul and its surrounding areas this weekend.
According to the report published by the General Directorate of Meteorology on Friday, December 20, the Marmara and Aegean regions will come under the influence of effective precipitation masses starting this evening.
In its statement, AKOM also invited citizens to be cautious regarding thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that will continue until Sunday, especially across Istanbul.
TEMPERATURES WILL DROP RAPIDLY
Temperatures, which are currently around 15 degrees, are expected to drop rapidly starting from nighttime hours and fall to 10 degrees. It was reported that with this sharp drop in temperature, heavy rain will be effective between 00:00 and 06:00 at night.
Meteorology stated that cities including İzmir, Antalya, Ankara, Bursa, and Çanakkale, primarily Istanbul, will also be affected by this system.
Hava Forum announced in a post on its social media account that heavy precipitation masses coming from the Aegean and Central Mediterranean will be effective over a wide area on Saturday.
While AKOM urged citizens to be careful against flash floods and traffic accidents, it reminded that support can be obtained from the ALO153 line in case of any negative situation.
Authorities recommended not going out unless necessary during the hours when heavy rainfall is effective and advised drivers to be more careful in traffic.
