Ministry exposes: Here are the businesses in Turkey selling horse and donkey meat

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is publishing information regarding products confirmed to have been imitated or adulterated following inspections conducted within the scope of food safety via the “Reliable Food” platform.

In the released records, it was observed that “equine meat detection” was made in some products. These findings were present in various products such as beef, roasted meat (kavurma), sucuk, pide filling, lahmacun filling, and tantuni.

Mersin stood out among the businesses where equine meat was detected in the list covering the period from March 12 to August 20.

The Ministry announces that information on imitation and adulteration is shared with the public after being confirmed by laboratory results.

Mersin was the province where the most equine meat detections were observed; Kırklareli, Adana, and İzmir were also counted among the prominent provinces on the list.

Meat and meat products were also examined during the inspections. The lists announced by the Ministry included headings such as product name, company information, province, district, and the detected non-compliance.

The findings under the meat and meat products heading have brought the risks regarding the content of products purchased by consumers back to the agenda.

The table contains equine meat detections for minced roasted meat and meat tantuni from the Akdeniz district of Mersin, and for heat-treated sucuk products from the Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli.

In this section, there are findings for sucuk products in Kırklareli, raw lahmacun filling in Manisa, and frozen liver and cubed red meat in Adana.

In addition to the red meat records in the Yüreğir district of Adana, products such as tantuni and beef kavurma in Mersin were included in the list.

The list includes records for meat tantuni, meat beyran soup, beef sucuk, and raw beef mince from Mersin; and heat-treated beef sucuk from Bursa.

In this section, records for raw beef mince, beef kavurma, raw cubed meat, and cooked red meat in Mersin; and stuffed meatballs (içli köfte) in Gaziantep are seen.

The table includes equine meat detections for cooked red meat in Mersin, beef pide filling and beef sucuk in İzmir, red meat in Adana, and beef kavurma in Kayseri.

Red meat and raw lamb mince in Mersin; and raw pide filling with beef mince and pide filling with minced meat in İzmir are among the products seen on the list.

This section includes records for beef meatballs in the Kınık district of İzmir and meat kavurma in the Toroslar district of Mersin.
