Retired police officer takes his own life in public park

The incident occurred at approximately 22:15 at the Millet Bahçesi located in the Canik district. According to the information obtained, 54-year-old retired police officer C.G. shot himself in the head with a handgun he had with him. Citizens who were having a picnic in the park heard the gunshot and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Upon the report, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

C.G., who was taken to a private hospital by ambulance in critical condition, could not be saved despite all medical interventions and passed away.

While police teams have launched an investigation at the scene, the inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
