In Afyonkarahisar, JASAT detectives unraveled the mystery behind the death of 4-year-old Y.E.Y., who lost his life in a hospital last January after being brought in under the claim that he had fallen from a height, revealing that the child had been a victim of murder. Another horrifying detail in the case was that the child's mother married her son's killer just 3 days after he was murdered.

The incident occurred on January 24, 2026, in the town of Işıklar, located in the central district. The 4-year-old child, identified as Y.E.Y., was taken to the Afyon Health Sciences University Hospital by his mother, Z.K., and his grandfather, M.K., in an unconscious state, with the claim that he had fallen from a height. The young child, who was found to have suffered a brain hemorrhage, was transferred to the Kütahya City Hospital following initial intervention. However, despite all efforts, Y.E.Y. could not be saved and passed away.
JASAT deepens investigation and detains 5 people
Following the incident, the gendarmerie teams launched an investigation, examined the scene where the child allegedly fell, and took statements from family members. After the initial examinations, the Gendarmerie Criminal Investigation Team (JASAT), the gendarmerie's detectives, took over the investigation. Examining the file in detail, JASAT detectives, based on the contradictory statements of family members and the autopsy report, detained the mother Z.K., the stepfather B.K., the grandfather M.K., the grandmother A.K., and one other family member.
Grandfather confessed to the incident
The family members, who were referred to the courthouse by JASAT detectives, confessed that the young child was killed by B.K. In his statement, the grandfather M.K. said that on the day the child died, he had gone to the field to graze sheep with his son, the stepfather B.K., but after a while, B.K. brought Y.E.Y. in his arms and handed him over, saying, 'I hit him a couple of times, he fainted. Take a look at him.' He stated that upon this, he and Z.K. took the child to the hospital and that the child subsequently died.
Stepfather arrested on charges of killing the young child
Following the prosecutor's interrogation, the individuals were brought before the court. The stepfather, B.K., was arrested on charges of 'intentional homicide,' while the grandfather, M.K., was arrested for tampering with evidence. The mother, Z.K., and the grandmother, A.K., were released under judicial control with a travel ban. The other detained family member was released after giving a statement. The arrested B.K. denied the incident, not explaining how he committed the murder.
It was revealed that the young child was beaten before he died
Regarding the stepfather B.K., who did not accept the charges in court but was arrested, information obtained from local residents alleged that he constantly beat the young child before he died, claiming he was a stepchild, for reasons such as wetting his bed or making noise.

Another piece of information obtained from the relatives of the family members was chilling. It was revealed that B.K. married Z.K., whose child he had killed, in a civil ceremony just 3 days after the incident. It was stated that the mother, Z.K., had hidden the incident due to pressure from her husband and his family.
