An ex officio investigation has been launched against journalist Fatih Altaylı on charges of 'threatening the President'.
According to a post by author Hande Altaylı, her husband, journalist Fatih Altaylı, was detained at their home in Teşvikiye.
In her post, Hande Altaylı stated, "They just took Fatih. We don't know where they are taking him."
The following statement was made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Altaylı's detention:
"An ex officio investigation has been launched against Fatih Altaylı for the crime of Threatening the President (pursuant to TCK art. 310/2 in conjunction with 106/1) due to his threatening remarks targeting our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a broadcast dated 20/06/2025 on the 'YouTube' social media channel bearing his own name, and the aforementioned individual has been apprehended and detained today in accordance with the instructions given to the Istanbul Police Department."

Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral used striking expressions in a post he made on his social media account this morning directed at Altaylı. Sharing a clip from Fatih Altaylı's program, Saral wrote, "Altaylı! The water is starting to heat up for you."
