Known as the dessert of abundance, friendship, and sincerity, the Siirt-specific 'Gebole' dessert is traditionally made in homes on February 14th and is considered an indispensable treat for winter conversations.
With the geographical indication application, the goal is to ensure that the cultural and historical significance of the dessert reaches a wider audience and is passed on to future generations.
GEBOLE DESSERT INGREDIENTS
- 125 grams of butter
- 1.5 cups of flour
- 6 cups of milk
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of molasses (for the topping)
- 4 walnuts (for the topping)
HOW TO MAKE GEBOLE DESSERT?
- Melt the butter in a deep pot, add the flour, and roast it without stopping until the color of the flour changes to a caramel color.
- It is very important to stir constantly to ensure it does not burn.
- Once the flour is well roasted, add one cup of milk.
- After fully incorporating it into the mixture, add another cup of milk.
- Continue adding the 6 cups of milk in this manner and stir well until it reaches a pudding consistency.
- Then add the sugar and mix well.
- After your pudding starts to boil, stir for another 2 minutes and turn off the heat.
- Divide the prepared pudding into serving bowls and leave to cool.
- After it has cooled to room temperature, drizzle molasses over the top and garnish with walnut pieces.
- Serve after resting in the refrigerator.
