Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sargın, President of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, stated that claims suggesting the Covid-19 vaccine increases heart diseases have no scientific basis.
A study conducted on 46 million people in the UK showed that deaths due to cardiovascular diseases are lower in individuals who have been vaccinated.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sargın, who works at the Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, stated that claims regarding an increase in heart attack cases among young people in recent times do not reflect the truth.
Sargın said, "We do not have any data indicating a serious increase in heart disease among young people. However, awareness of such events has increased, and people can access this news more easily."
Stating that the young population in Turkey is increasing, Sargın noted that the number of individuals in the 25-45 age group has risen, and this situation naturally leads to an increase in the number of heart disease cases.
NO CONCERN REGARDING HEART DISEASE RISK IN YOUNG PEOPLE
Sargın emphasized that associating cardiovascular diseases with Covid-19 is incorrect.
According to the results of the study in the UK, he stated that problems such as heart attacks and vascular diseases are seen less frequently in vaccinated individuals. He added that similar studies are being conducted in Turkey, but the results have not yet been published.
