Antalya’s Gazipaşa District Health Director Dr. Eşşe Çelik, in a statement made for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, pointed out the importance of early diagnosis in cancer, stating that the disease is largely treatable when detected at an early stage.

District Health Director Dr. Eşşe Çelik touched upon the importance of early diagnosis in cancer in her statement regarding "Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month."

Çelik said, "It has been demonstrated by many studies that the implementation of screening programs for colorectal cancer, which is a largely treatable disease when diagnosed at an early stage, provides very positive gains in terms of the incidence and mortality rate of the disease in question."

Çelik continued her information regarding colorectal cancer as follows:

"National Standards for Colorectal Cancer Screening have also been determined and put into practice in our country. Screening is performed free of charge every 2 years for the male and female population between the ages of 50-70, in a fast, practical, and reliable manner with the help of a Fecal Occult Blood test kit at Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Centers (KETEM), Healthy Life Centers (SHM), and Family Health Centers (ASM), which operate under the Community Health Centers (TSM)."
