Health Minister Fahrettin Koca spoke at the National Health Services Evaluation and Coordination Meeting.
Koca announced that the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) will transition to a 'Confirmed Appointment' system.
Koca stated the following regarding the regulation in question:
"Every patient with an appointment for the following day will provide confirmation or notify that they cannot attend by 8:00 PM the previous evening. We call this new era initiated in the MHRS the 'Confirmed Appointment Period'. The implementation begins on Monday. We have 2 privileged patient groups in this new era: patients over 65 and cancer patients. Patients in these groups are exempt from the confirmation process."
Highlights from Minister Koca's speech are as follows:
"The 'White Reform' in healthcare has recently brought many results, primarily the transition of physicians to the public sector. As a result of the law on violence in healthcare, cases of violence have decreased significantly. In addition to the 'White Code' application, the 'Gray Code' application has also been launched as a pilot program. The number of White Code incidents has dropped from 31 per million to 14 per million.
Significant improvements have been made to the personal rights of our physicians and healthcare workers regarding their retirement.
We have screened more than 1 million 400 thousand couples within the scope of the pre-marital SMA carrier screening program. We have conducted more than 2 million 200 thousand screenings for newborns.
Our goal is for all vaccines we need to be produced in Turkey. By 2028, all vaccines will be 100 percent domestic. We are establishing a cell and gene therapy hospital for rare diseases.
CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT PERIOD BEGINS IN MHRS
The number of patients with and without appointments is almost equal. The total number of missed appointments is 81 million.
30 percent of the appointment capacity could not be utilized. We are trying to meet unlimited demand with limited capacity.
We are starting the confirmed appointment period on Monday. Patients with an appointment for the following day will confirm their attendance by 8:00 PM.
Patients over 65 and cancer patients are exempt from the confirmation process. In appointments that remain vacant, priority will be given to patients who have left a request."
