One of the fundamental requirements of a healthy life is a healthy sleep routine. To draw attention to the benefits of sleep for human health, the Friday before the spring equinox is celebrated every year in March as "World Sleep Day."
An adult individual needs an average of 6-8 hours of sleep per day.
TURKS SLEEP AN AVERAGE OF 6.5 HOURS
Although it varies from person to person, it can be said that the average sleep duration is 6-7 hours. This duration has been found to be 6.5 hours for the Turkish population. Quality and sufficient sleep are essential for a healthy life.
Good and healthy sleep applies to situations where falling asleep happens within 10 minutes, there are no sleep interruptions, and one wakes up in the morning feeling refreshed.
Sleep disorders can be evaluated under the headings of oversleeping, undersleeping, and various sleep disorders associated with these. The causes can vary greatly. For example, someone who is depressed may sleep too much or may not be able to sleep at all.
Good sleep increases the body's working pace, motivation, and happiness index, and contributes to success in work and school life.
STAY AWAY FROM CAFFEINE
Sleep hygiene is necessary for sleep. This means the room where we sleep should be neither too hot nor too cold. Curtains should be closed to prevent daylight from entering. It is ideal for the room to be airy and protected from noise. There should be no devices such as mobile phones or televisions in the bedroom.
For healthy sleep, a person needs to be physically and mentally calm. A habit of sleeping at similar times every day should be acquired, and one should stay away from caffeine and similar food and drinks that are considered stimulants in the period before sleep. The evening meal should be eaten in small amounts and at an early hour.
SLEEP PERIODS OF 2-3 TIMES A DAY ARE CONSIDERED NORMAL
A nap at noon is not necessary for an adult individual. For an adult, a single-phase sleep is the correct one. For the elderly and children, sleep periods of two to three times a day are considered normal.
There are reasons for the inability to wake up in the morning. For example, if one has not slept healthily at night (for example, sleep apnea syndrome), if the time of falling asleep at night has been delayed, if the person has made a habit of getting up late, or if they are depressed, they may have difficulty waking up in the morning.
By finding solutions to the causes of these problems, the situation of not being able to wake up in the morning can be eliminated.
