Stating that unbalanced and inadequate nutrition within an irregular lifestyle pace triggers many ailments along with sudden weight gain, Dietitian Şilan Alyamaç expressed that weight problems, which negatively affect quality of life, form the basis of health issues and can cause future illnesses to emerge at an earlier stage.

''BEFORE CREATING DIET LISTS...''

Pointing out that a body mass index outside the desired range paves the way for diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, kidney disorders, and heart diseases, Alyamaç said, “While ideal body weight provides physical motivation, it also ensures feeling better psychologically. Before creating diet lists, the ideal weight must be calculated. After the ideal weight is calculated, your body mass index should be measured to determine your weight level. The amounts of nutrients and food in the diet list are determined according to the body mass index. To ensure cells function correctly and in a specific order, it is necessary to eat regularly and healthily. The energy required for the body can be obtained with the help of carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins, and minerals.”

''AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR EVERY DAY...''

Listing the recommendations that can be applied for healthy weight loss, Alyamaç stated, “Drink plenty of water. Green vegetables and fresh fruits found in your diet lists should be consumed. Natural, unprocessed foods should be consumed, and fibrous foods should be preferred. Instead of acidic beverages, alcohol, and artificial fruit juices containing sugar, herbal teas such as green tea can be preferred. Since Turkish coffee helps with fat burning, 1 cup of Turkish coffee should be consumed per day. By taking regular walks for at least half an hour every day, the risk of diseases that weight problems can cause should be reduced. Stay away from animal products as much as possible, do not consume saturated fats, avoid fried foods, and stay away from offal.”
