Expert warning: Unlicensed drugs cause death

Experts point out that individuals who perform aesthetic procedures with fake certificates and carry out illegal medical aesthetic procedures, as well as underground beauty centers, leave irreversible damage on the human body.

Furthermore, experts emphasize that the resulting damage stems from the injection of drugs into the body under the guise of beauty that have not been licensed by the Ministry of Health's Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK). 

In this context, Öztürk stated in her explanation that in order to prevent such damage, medical procedures should be performed by physicians who have a private practice or by physicians working with a license in the relevant departments of licensed polyclinics and hospitals.

"THEY PERFORM PROCEDURES WITH UNLICENSED PRODUCTS"

Stating that only health institutions approved by the Ministry of Health can access genuine drugs licensed by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), Öztürk said, “All entities outside of this are performing procedures with products that have not been licensed by the Ministry of Health. We have a problem with advertising bans. There is a great injustice here, and this situation causes confusion among our patients. 

Especially underground beauty centers perform medical procedures and post application videos. Some of these are done by doctors, and some by people who are not doctors, but people do not know that these are not legal health institutions.

They can advertise and inform people in this direction, but because we have an advertising ban in healthcare, we cannot provide such information, so people forget, do not know, or ignore the fact that this should be done by us,” she assessed.

"CAUSES ALLERGIC REACTIONS AND DEATHS"

Stating that unlicensed drugs injected into the human body in underground beauty centers cause allergic reactions and deaths, Öztürk said, “Medical procedures must be performed in units licensed by the Ministry of Health, regardless of what they are. The biggest problem with the drugs used outside of this is the issue of stabilization and efficacy/side effects of the material. It is that we do not know what is inside the material. 

There is currently a 'micro-youth vaccine' craze. All patients come in saying, ‘I had a micro-youth vaccine, and it melted.’ In this micro-youth vaccine application, they mix Hyaluronic acid fillers and certain vitamins in underground establishments and inject them abundantly into patients' faces. 

They achieve a dramatic rejuvenation there. They also inform people illegally by sharing on social media, and people believe these advertisements and images, most of which are photoshopped, and go to them. Actually, there is no such thing as a micro-youth vaccine. What is done is liquid face lifting or a filler application. We do this with drugs inspected by the Ministry of Health, but we do not know what they are using. This causes health problems,” she expressed.

SIDE EFFECT WARNING

Emphasizing that drugs approved by the Ministry of Health can only be obtained from pharmacies, Öztürk said, “Cosmetics are substances that are not absorbed by the skin and do not cause any changes in the system. Products we call dermocosmetics contain active ingredients. These products can create a response in the body when a certain amount is absorbed through the skin. 

Currently, many illegal, unlicensed dermocosmetic products are sold on social media and the internet, and they are described as if they were drugs. This is wrong. These products can have effects such as allergic reactions throughout the body or, in very long-term use, predispositions to systemic cancers through the immune system,” she explained.
