Dietitian Gizem Güneş explained that one should be mindful of portion sizes when eating during the holiday and that water consumption should not be neglected.

Güneş included the following statements in her explanation:

“What we need to pay particular attention to is how we eat and how often we do it. For us, the holiday means sweets, pastries, and stuffed vine leaves. We need to consider when to fit these in and at what hours we will eat them. As much as possible, making portion control our primary task should be our first duty. Because what is actually important is consuming the meal within portion limits. After practicing portion control, the next thing to pay attention to is the time. Since these are foods with a high carbohydrate content, it is beneficial to consume them before 16:30. Within the entire system, especially if we have eating schedules during the day, it is beneficial to spend the evening as calmly as possible with fruits that are richer in vitamins and lower in sugar, and nuts like almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts. Apart from this, we must not neglect our 2.5-3 liters of water. Due to these temperatures, we are all battling edema. To win this battle, we need to restrict carbohydrates and increase our fluid intake slightly. Besides this, we can incorporate drinks like green tea and mineral water into our lives,” she said.
