A new practice regarding family medicine will come into effect tomorrow. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health will automatically transfer the family medicine registrations of citizens whose registered province for their family physician differs from their residential address to the address where they reside.
HOW WILL THE NEW FAMILY MEDICINE SYSTEM WORK?
Providing information about the new practice to be implemented starting tomorrow, General Director of Public Health Muhammed Emin Demirkol explained the system as follows:
"We have extracted a list from the system of citizens among our 86 million population whose province of registration with a family physician differs from their province of residence. For example, let's consider a citizen registered with a family physician in Ankara but whose residential address is in Istanbul; if they have not applied to any health institution in Ankara, where their family physician is registered, within one year, and their residential address is in Istanbul, we are moving their family medicine registration to Istanbul as of May so that they can reach their family physician more easily, receive services from family medicine more effectively, and so that our family physician can reach that citizen. Our Provincial Health Directorate in Istanbul will then register that citizen with the most suitable family physician closest to their address."
YOU CAN RETURN WITHIN ONE MONTH
At this point, Demirkol also stated that there is a one-month period for reverting the change, saying, "After this process, our citizens will be able to perform the process of returning to their previously registered family physician via the 'https://enabiz.gov.tr/' website within 1 month. We have set this window of opportunity in the system as one month."
WHO WILL THIS APPLY TO?
Demirkol also spoke about the criteria for the new practice:
"Here, we have taken as a criterion not having visited the family physician and not having received health services in the province where that family physician is located within 1 year. We are moving the family medicine registrations of those citizens to the province where they reside. There, our Provincial Health Directorate will assign these individuals to the nearest family physician where their residential address is located, and if our citizens wish to return to their old family physician, they will be able to perform these transfer procedures via e-Nabız to the province where their old family physician is located within one month."
HOW WILL THOSE WHOSE FAMILY PHYSICIAN IS MOVED BE NOTIFIED?
Explaining that the system only covers changes between provinces and does not apply to different districts within the same province, Demirkol said that citizens would be informed about this via SMS.
