Following the assault of three doctors by patients' relatives in the Körfez district of Kocaeli, it has been announced that physicians will go on a 5-day strike against violence in healthcare. The Union and Solidarity Syndicate stated, "We will no longer tolerate this situation. We have decided to go on a 5-day strike."

In the Körfez district of Kocaeli, physicians will go on a 5-day strike against violence after three doctors were assaulted by patients' relatives.
Following the incident of violence in healthcare that occurred in Kocaeli, the doctors obtained medical reports for their injuries, and 2 attackers were taken into custody.
The following statements were included in the announcement made by the Union and Solidarity Syndicate:
"As the Union and Solidarity Syndicate, we will no longer tolerate yet another, and another, and every day a new incident of violence in healthcare. We will not tolerate physicians, nurses, midwives, and all healthcare workers being forced to work under a high risk of life-threatening danger and without safety. In this environment of terror of violence in healthcare, which manifests in every form including insults, swearing, threats, assault, stabbing, shooting, and murder, we are unable to do our jobs or practice our profession.
We will no longer tolerate this situation. For this reason, our union condemns the incidents of violence in healthcare that have been increasing for years and that we have experienced in recent weeks all over the country at the level of brutal terror, which threaten our safety and make it impossible for us to do or continue our jobs and profession.
Due to the fact that effective and deterrent measures with sanctions have not yet been taken against these, and the life-threatening danger faced by healthcare workers is not being taken seriously, a decision has been made to go on a 5 (five) day strike nationwide on October 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2023, in order to remind administrative and political authorities and officials of their duties and responsibilities in this regard, to call upon them to fulfill these responsibilities and duties, and to demand that violence in healthcare be stopped immediately.
We believe that the participation of all healthcare workers who are forced to work in these inhumane working environments every day and in every healthcare institution and who are exposed to all this violence will provide strength, and we expect the participation of all healthcare labor organizations to finally say 'Enough' and 'Let violence in healthcare end' for real."
