Following claims appearing in some media outlets that have sparked public debate, suggesting that "women under 25 can only book gynecological appointments if they are married," a statement has been issued by the Ministry of Health. The Ministry stated that no such restriction exists.
The statement noted, 'MHRS provides service without any discrimination, and there is no restriction based on marital status for booking appointments at gynecology and obstetrics clinics. In order for our citizens to make appointments correctly and in accordance with their needs, our hospitals may add some additional information based on the characteristics of the examination rooms they have set up. This is a situation that applies to every branch and every examination room. Indeed, the examination conditions and testing processes for each branch differ. This practice, as is the case in developed countries, aims to provide services more efficiently and effectively.
This practice within the MHRS system is not a restriction or a rule. Explanatory information in the systems of some hospitals is included to ensure that citizens are directed to the correct clinic. Such additional information is not unique to gynecology but is also valid for many other branches.
