IS THE HPV VACCINE FREE? WHEN WILL THE PROGRAM START?
Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu made assessments regarding the current agenda and answered questions during a live broadcast on TRT Haber.
Announcing the latest development regarding the HPV vaccine, Minister Memişoğlu stated, "As you know, there are speculations regarding the virus we call HPV, and we have conducted a study on it. It actually has 200 types and different variations.
There are two strains that have a primary risk of causing cancer, especially cervical cancer. We will start a vaccination program for these by the end of 2025; we will make the HPV vaccine available to all our 13-year-old children, and we will also make it available for those over 15 who wish to be vaccinated.
They are speculating about this. We are currently screening for HPV, and we are also screening for SMA. By the end of 2025, we will deliver the HPV vaccine to our people, especially to our 13-year-old children, free of charge."
WHO CAN GET THE HPV VACCINE?
According to the information provided by Minister Memişoğlu, the HPV vaccine will be administered free of charge in Turkey by the end of 2025. The vaccine will primarily be given to 13-year-old children.
