Health alert for Turkish-branded product: Carcinogen warning
A 4-liter container of Trilya brand olive pomace oil has been recalled in Germany after laboratory tests detected high levels of carcinogenic mineral oils. Consumers have been urged not to use the product and to return it immediately.

In Germany, the 4-liter Trilya brand olive pomace oil, batch number LS162703—a product frequently preferred by Turkish consumers—is being withdrawn from the market due to risks identified in laboratory analyses regarding food safety. The product was found to contain "mineral oil hydrocarbons" at levels 10 times higher than the limits set by the European Union. Mineral oils in the MOSH and MOAH groups, in particular, have drawn the attention of the public and authorities due to their potential carcinogenic effects on human health.
The expiration date for these products, which were released in 4-liter packaging, is listed as March 27, 2027. The distributor of the product is the Germany-based company Altay GmbH, and it was reported that this oil was on sale in markets, particularly in the states of Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia.
THE DANGER OF THE DETECTED CARCINOGENIC SUBSTANCES
Mineral oil hydrocarbons, known as MOSH and MOAH, are monitored with great sensitivity in food products, especially because some components in the MOAH group carry a risk of cancer. Experts emphasize that the contamination of food with these substances can lead to negative effects on genetic structure, and the European Union recently placed the establishment of new legal limits for such substances in vegetable oils and certain other foods on its agenda. The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced the EU's relevant regulatory efforts to the public in March.
CLEAR WARNING TO CONSUMERS: DO NOT USE, RETURN IT
Health authorities in Germany have asked consumers who possess the 4-liter Trilya brand olive pomace oil with batch number LS162703 not to use the product and to return it immediately to the place of purchase. The recall decision for the product applies only to oils with this specific batch number. Although the label of the recalled product contains descriptions in Turkish, according to official records, this oil is defined as olive pomace oil (prina oil), not "olive oil."
