The Ministry of Health stated, "West Nile Virus infection, which has been seen in our country since 2010, has been detected in 6 people in 2024. The follow-up and treatment of our patients are ongoing."

The statement made from the Ministry's social media account is as follows:

"West Nile Virus infection is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of mosquitoes carrying the virus. The disease is generally seasonal and is seen throughout the summer and in the early periods of autumn. The disease is not transmitted directly from person to person.

West Nile Virus infection, which has been seen in our country since 2010, has been detected in 6 people in 2024. The follow-up and treatment of our patients are ongoing. Necessary work is being carried out by our Ministry and the process is being followed with sensitivity. Current developments will be presented to the public."
