Number of personnel to be employed in healthcare increased

A legislative proposal, which includes increasing the number of contract personnel to be employed in the healthcare sector from 27 thousand to 36 thousand, has been submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

A decision regarding the healthcare sector was published in the Official Gazette on December 25, 2023, with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to the decision regarding the employment of 27 thousand contract healthcare personnel in 2024, the number of contract healthcare personnel to be employed in 2024 was set at 27 thousand in order to ensure the effective and efficient execution of healthcare services in places and service branches where there is difficulty in recruiting staff.

The decision stated that, effective from January 1:


• 23 thousand 464 specialist physicians, 


• 3 thousand 498 physicians,


• 25 health officers,


• 9 midwives,


• 2 nurses,


• 1 dietitian


• and 1 health technician would be employed.

An increase was made in the number of contract personnel due to staff shortages.

Accordingly, the number of personnel to be employed was increased from 27 thousand to 36 thousand.

The legislative proposal in question has been submitted to the Speaker of the TBMM.
