Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel stated that the health problems Tayfun Kahraman is facing in prison have reached an alarming level. Özel recalled that detailed information regarding Kahraman's health status was provided in the application made to the Constitutional Court (AYM), and that the unlawful aspects of the judicial process were also raised. He noted that despite the court's ruling of a rights violation, the 13th High Criminal Court set a historical precedent by refusing to comply with the Constitutional Court's decision.

Making statements regarding Tayfun Kahraman's health, Özel said, "Failure to comply with a decision rendered on the merits is a violation of the constitution. His health condition was critical; as an MS patient, it has deteriorated significantly since this decision. MS patients need to be fed with care, yet he has been eating prison food for 4 years. MS patients need regular sunlight, yet he has been living in a cell for 4 years. He needs to move regularly, yet he has only been able to move during certain hours of the day for 4 years. He needs to stay away from stress and sadness. He cannot get out of bed without assistance, and I personally observed that he has lost strength in his left leg. With his professors and family present, I do not want to say anything that crosses the line regarding his health status. This is what was bound to happen with this much stress and inactivity. They should not let our friend become paralyzed right before our eyes," he said.

Özel pointed out that Kahraman's health conditions are rapidly deteriorating and that the conditions of his imprisonment pose vital risks, especially for MS patients, emphasizing that urgent steps must be taken. Furthermore, in Özgür Özel's statements, it was highlighted that Kahraman has been deprived of sunlight and proper nutrition for years, has remained inactive, and is under psychological pressure. The CHP leader called on the relevant institutions to implement the Constitutional Court's decision, stating that ignoring human rights and judicial rulings could lead to serious consequences.
