Researchers have suggested that the administration of Covid vaccines significantly reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular complications for up to a year afterward.
According to a report in T24, researchers who examined the health records of more than 20 million people in the UK, Spain, and Estonia announced that they found consistent evidence that the vaccines provide protection against serious cardiovascular complications.
Covid vaccines such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna have been proven effective in preventing serious illness during the pandemic.
Daniel Prieto-Alhambra, professor of pharmaco- and device epidemiology at the University of Oxford and one of the senior authors of the study, said, "What we have shown in this large-scale study is that vaccinated individuals have a significantly reduced risk of developing these post-Covid complications."
In an article published in the journal Heart, researchers explained that adenovirus-based Covid vaccines produced by AstraZeneca and Janssen, and mRNA-based vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, have a protective effect against Covid-related heart failure and blood clots in the first month after being infected with the virus.
Compared to unvaccinated individuals, it was stated that there was a reduction of up to 55 percent in the risk of heart failure and up to 78 percent in the risk of blood clots in veins and arteries.
While the researchers noted that the protective effect of the vaccines may decrease in the long term, they reported that the risk of Covid-related heart failure and blood clots for those who have received a Covid vaccine remains lower than that of unvaccinated individuals for up to one year.
