Striking warning from an expert following Cem Yılmaz’s heart attack! It progresses silently in the body
While comedian Cem Yılmaz suffering a serious heart attack at age 53 has brought cardiovascular diseases seen at younger ages back to the agenda, Prof. Dr. Şevket Özkaya highlighted the role of chronic inflammation in the development of many conditions, including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and Type 2 diabetes. Özkaya listed the symptoms of chronic inflammation and provided assessments on lifestyle changes that can be made.

Comedian Cem Yılmaz suffering a serious heart attack at age 53 has brought the causes of chronic conditions, particularly cardiovascular diseases emerging at younger ages, back to the agenda. Chest Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Şevket Özkaya stated that chronic inflammation could be one of the significant factors in the emergence of heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms, strokes, and certain types of cancer.
Pointing out that serious diseases seen at younger ages have been coming to the agenda more frequently in recent years, Özkaya said that systemic factors might lie beneath this situation.
Özkaya said, "Famous comedian Cem Yılmaz suffering a serious heart attack at age 53 always raises the following question in people's minds: What is the reason for the increase in recent years of heart attacks, vascular occlusions like pulmonary embolism, strokes, and cancers occurring at a young age? There is only one answer to this question: A medical condition we call chronic inflammation.
Previously, we viewed these diseases as conditions resulting from mechanical and cellular degradation. But as medical knowledge and technological developments have increased, it has shown that this is not just a separate mechanical condition of each organ, but that there is a systemic factor underneath it that affects all tissues and organs," he said.
WHAT DOES CHRONIC INFLAMMATION LEAD TO IN THE BODY?
Stating that chronic inflammation can play a role in the development of different diseases, Özkaya drew attention to cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune conditions seen especially at a young age.
Özkaya said, "This condition called chronic inflammation can lead to various diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and autoimmune conditions that emerge especially at a young age. New knowledge and technological developments show that when our cells are damaged due to external or internal stimuli, an inflammatory response is initiated that involves the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and other signaling molecules. This response aims to eliminate the initial cause of the damage, remove damaged cells, and initiate the repair process.
However, when inflammation becomes dysregulated or continues beyond the intended duration, it can contribute to chronic tissue damage and the development of chronic diseases. These include Type 2 diabetes, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cardiovascular diseases that lead to heart attacks and strokes at a young age," he stated.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CHRONIC INFLAMMATION?
Expressing that chronic inflammation can manifest itself in the body with different symptoms, Özkaya stated that the symptoms are mostly systemic.
Özkaya said, "In chronic inflammation, symptoms are generally systemic. Exhaustion, insomnia, fever, pain, joint stiffness, skin rashes, digestive system symptoms such as acid reflux, diarrhea or constipation, weight loss or weight gain, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders, as well as frequent infections, can be seen.
To reduce chronic inflammation, it is important to reduce chronic stress, incorporate physical activity into daily life, stay away from processed or fast food, consume vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and healthy fats, and sleep at least 7 hours a night. Besides this, quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption can also help control inflammatory processes in the body," he expressed.
