Stating that seasonal temperatures are showing significant fluctuations during this period, Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Özkan Akyol said, “Even though it is February, temperatures are rising, and then dropping in the evenings.

On days that start very cold when leaving the house in the morning, the air temperature can increase in the afternoon, or it can be sunny one day and suddenly become very cold the next. These sudden temperature changes can negatively affect people's health," he said.

Dr. Akyol stated, "A day that starts very cold when leaving the house in the morning can remain very hot by noon, or it can be sunny and very hot one day and suddenly become very cold the next. These temperature changes can negatively affect people's health.

While temperature changes affect our digestive system and even our mood, they can also trigger many other illnesses. Taking some precautions against problems caused by weather changes will be effective for our health," he said.

"THOSE WITH ALLERGIC ASTHMA SHOULD BE CAREFUL"

Drawing attention to complaints caused by temperature changes, Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Özkan Akyol said, "Seasonal changes affect our lives more in the final months of the year. During these months, respiratory diseases such as allergic asthma, COPD, flu, and the common cold show an increase. People with allergic asthma must protect themselves very well. Sudden changes in temperature increase problems such as coughing, shortness of breath, respiratory tract issues, and nasal congestion that affect our quality of life. Viral infectious diseases are situations we encounter frequently," he said.

"PEOPLE OVER 65 SHOULD NOT NEGLECT THEIR ANNUAL VACCINATIONS"

Warning especially those over 65, those with weakened immune systems, and those working in crowded environments, Dr. Akyol said: "For these individuals, seasonal transitions are the primary source of illness. Taking some precautions will be beneficial in protecting against diseases.

First of all, one should dress protectively against cold weather and not be exposed to the cold for long periods. When dressing for cold weather, it is also important not to dress excessively thick, taking into account that the weather may warm up later in the day. The high temperatures prevailing this month cause people to dress thinly; we must not forget that we are in the winter season and it is February.

Fluctuating temperatures pose a problem for our health. People over 65 must get their annual vaccinations. Those with diseases such as asthma and COPD should not neglect their doctor follow-ups. Blood pressure and heart patients should follow their treatments regularly.

They should consume fiber-rich foods and eat naturally. Consuming plenty of water is very important. Sports and physical activities help us maintain our health. Starting the day with a healthy breakfast contributes to a person mentally and physically. Taking these precautions will be of great benefit in protecting ourselves against epidemics and illnesses."
