Health teams were dispatched after domestic and foreign tourists staying at a holiday hotel in the Kuşadası Sahil Siteleri region began experiencing health issues such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and high fever. Panic ensued at the hotel following the complaints, and approximately 30 guests were transferred to nearby hospitals by ambulance in a short period.
It was stated that some of the tourists treated at the hospitals were kept under observation, while others received outpatient care. Following the incident, vacationers claimed that the discomfort they experienced was caused by the open buffet meals served at the hotel.
INSPECTION AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS BY AUTHORITIES
Immediately after the incident, health teams and the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry launched a detailed inspection at the hotel. Authorities collected samples from both the open buffet meals and the hotel's water systems and sent them to the laboratory.
In a statement, it was noted that the exact cause of the poisoning will be determined following the laboratory analysis. Meanwhile, it was recorded that both administrative and judicial processes regarding the incident are ongoing. It was reported that the treatment of the tourists, whose health conditions are stable, continues.
Such mass illnesses in Kuşadası cause concern, especially with the increase in the number of tourists staying in the region during the summer season. Once the investigation is concluded, more detailed information regarding food safety practices at the hotel is expected to be obtained.
