WHO statement on hantavirus: Current case count announced

The World Health Organization (WHO) has shared the latest status regarding the hantavirus outbreak. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reported that the total number of cases remains at 13, with 3 of these cases resulting in death.

In a statement on his social media account, Ghebreyesus noted that the outbreak situation is stable and stated that the process is nearing its end. It was reported that all contacts of the 2 cases initially detected in South Africa have completed their follow-up periods and no new cases have been reported.

According to the WHO statement, quarantine and follow-up processes for contacts in Spain and the Netherlands have also been completed. This scope includes the crew of the MV Hondius. As of June 25, it was stated that 30 contacts are still under follow-up.
